Facebook Launches Instant Messenger Service

Facebook officially unveiled their much hyped chat service today.

The social networking giant flicked the switch on the service which allows users of Facebook to message their friends quickly and efficiently from any page in Facebook. After a user agrees to go online they are greeted with their friends list in a pop up form on within an integrated version at the bottom of Facebook pages. Interestingly the connection doesn't appear to be SSL so it might be possible for bad guys to sniff any conversations with your friends.

Facebook is in the middle of a re-design aimed to promote aggregation for users personally. In a message to Facebook users the company says "As you have seen in our screen shots, the ‘Wall’ tab of your profile has a new emphasis on recent activity. We think this is the information that your friends care the most about, and the information that will recap what you have been up to lately. This change shouldn’t make you feel uncomfortable, and to ensure this we will be giving you control over what information is displayed about you. What’s really important is that you have a say in what information is being shared about you, and in turn, your friends have an easy way to see it."

It's not clear how big corporations and businesses will deal with the new chat service as it's so well integrated it may not be an easy task to block without blocking the whole of Facebook.

I'm sure that all of you know Youtube.com right, since it is the famous video website. Everytime when we go watch the video, and it is interesting and like to download it for collection. But Youtube.com do not provide the download feature for us. So what can we do?

I found a website to download the video. That is www.downloadyoutubevideos.com
Just follow the simple step.

1. In Youtube.com, Copy the URL of the video.

Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmhV46E9fio

2. Go to www.downloadyoutubevideos.com
3. Paste the URL in the "Youtube URL" columns and Press "Download" button only.
















4.Then, click the link "Click Here to Download", just beside to the video display.
5. So, save the file to your favorite directory.
6. Important --> You must save the file to ".FLV" (Flash Video File)
















7. Since it is FLV file, we cannot play the video in normal Video player (like window media, wimap), we need the FLV Player.

Google Calendar

Google Calendar is a free product and Google doesn't charge you to receive SMS notifications. This is the main reason that why I LOVE Google Calendar.

In Malaysia, only Celcom and Maxis supported.

Google Calendar SMS Reminder

Before set the sms reminder to the event, the Mobile setting have to activate and verify. Refer Google Calendar SMS Setting

1. Login to Google Calendar
2. Click Create Event
3. Enter the Event information


4. In the Option Section (Grey section), click Add a reminder

5. Google Calender provide 3 type of reminder ( Email, Popup and SMS). Choose SMS from the combo box and select the time to sent.


6. Save and done.

Google Calendar SMS Setting

1. Go to http://calendar.google.com and login with your Google Account.
2. Click Manage Calendar from the left bottom menu.

3. In Calendar settings menu, Click Mobile Setup from the top tab.

4. Select Country. (Malaysia default)
5. Enter your phone no (must include country code +601x-xxxxxxx )
6. Click Send Verification Code button and the verification code will sent to you immediately.

7. Check your SMS.
8. Enter the Verification Code.

9. Success and Done.

Cancel Bus Ticket

Last Sunday, actually i bought a bus ticket ( Konsortium ) from Ipoh to KL. Just after i bought, my friend told me he also want to come back and can fetch me together. Then i feel better follow my friend's car.
Since i bought the ticket, but i try to go back to the ticket counter to cancel it. Luckly, i able to cancel it, but only can refund 50%. Thats ok, better than nothing.
